Lawrence Malek is the Principal and licensed architect of Sirlin Giller & Malek Architects.
Lawrence has been practising architecture for well over 23 years, involved in both low and high density residential projects, hospitality and health care projects, commercial office, retail and industrial developments. The approach taken by Lawrence’s firm is to ensure personal responsibility for each and every project undertaken and that quality control and client service are never compromised. As a design professional, Lawrence’s commitment is to listen carefully and attempt to get a “feel” for what his client is hoping to achieve. He sets his goals on meeting the client’s physical requirements and emotional needs within the confines of budget and time constraints.
Lawrence has undertaken projects regionally completing works in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. He has also been involved in projects outside of Canada namely in Boston, Massachusetts, Ann Arbor, Michigan, New York City, New York, Hong Kong, and in mainland China.
Lawrence had completed an undergraduate degree at Ryerson University (formerly Ryerson Polytechnical Institute) and obtained a Masters of Architecture at the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, American Institute of Architects and a LEED Accredited Professional and member of the Green Building Certification Institute.
Lawrence is a competitive race walker having won numerous medals at local, provincial and international meets and is planning to compete in the World Masters in Lyon, France in 2015. He is also president of the Metro Toronto Fitness Club.
Lawrence is married and has a son and daughter enrolled in university degree and graduate doctorate dentistry programs respectively.
